Katherine and Her Amazing Technicolor Housecoat

Well, what can I say? I sure used up a lot of fabric making this robe! And that was my goal. I've had a bunch of these one yard pieces of brocade for a long while and no idea what to do with them. They are shiny and I do not like shiny fabric. I would never use them for a blouse but did contemplate using them for a skirt but imagined they might be too fragile for that. Then a friend suggested a robe!! Perfect! I used Simplicity 4134 for this. Its quick and easy. And I have enough brocade to make one or 2 more in different colors combinations.
The best part? About an eighth of my fabric storage area is now available for new stuff and I'm going to Chicago tomorrow and there's a fabric shop I like to stop in while I'm there.

I made these three fascinators for the millinery challenge for the Designer III group. Its was a lot of fun.

On the fence

I am underwhelmed by how this shirt for my husband turned out. As Supreme Despotic Ruler of the Laundry Room, I might have to make it disappear. I usually demand  credit when my daughter wears my creations and gets compliments, but I told my husband I don't want people knowing I made this. He swears won't tell anyone. It doesn't look too bad on the hanger and its nice slubby linen, but on him...It's just not right!! The shoulders are so droopy. I think it just looks goofy.

Goofy Shirt

The weird thing is, I made him a shirt from this very same pattern before and I like it just fine. I guess a print covers up a world of sins. I think the first one was a bit longer, so the proportions are a bit better. Plus, I got this fabric when we were on our honeymoon in Aruba for about a dollar a yard.
Good Shirt

Should I try to fix it? I just don't know. The pattern is McCall's 2149. Its got a forward facing shoulder seam instead of a yoke and almost no ease in the sleeve vs. the scye, and its really super easy, but I think I'm going to be looking for another casual shirt pattern for next time.

Special thanks to Mr. James Mason.

I am wearing clothes...

and I did make them, but I'm really showing off one of my beautiful cabbages. Sorry, nothing to do with sewing.

Bubbly

This is Vogue 8088. Its one of my favorite TNT patterns, although when I first tried it I was so disgusted with it I threw it in the garbage. That was before I realized that a "very loose fitting" Vogue pattern is really, really, uber-loose fitting. I think I cut out a large and it was humungous. Years went by, and I though I'd give it a second chance. Whenever Vogues went on sale, I'd look for it and after a few tries, I found it. This is a size small. I've made it many times, but I like it best made up in a sheer and stiff fabric. The pattern calls for the front and lower edges to be folded over twice, but I serge the edge and only fold over once & then mitre the corners.

Same old, same old.

Too much working, not enough playing, but I do have 5 recently completed projects. All are from TNT patterns. The first three are my current favorite top. The fabric came from Fabric.com's clearance section a few months ago. I LOVED it the moment I saw it. So, naturally, I got it in three colors!

I really need to stop making these, though.  And I will, I swear. After the three next three. (I may have bought some fabric at JoAnn's yesterday). I can stop at any time. I swear I can.
